South Carolina Consumer Electronics Recycling

Our Columbia, SC facility is committed to providing the most sustainable solutions for all your
e-recycling needs. As the leader in environmentally responsible management of end-of-life electronics, our processes have been proven to serve and protect the communities in which we operate.

1. Why e-recycling?

Obsolete electronics are the fastest growing component of the global waste stream. End-of-life electronics can contain lead, mercury, chromium, nickel and zinc. As the world’s largest recycler of electronics, we are in a unique position to help.

Your electronic products are made from valuable resources such as precious metals, plastics and glass, all of which can be used to create new products. E-recycling conserves our natural resources and avoids air and water pollution, as well as gas emissions that are caused by manufacturing new products.

2. What is your resident collection policy?

Our Columbia facility accepts daily drop-offs from residents in South Carolina. Please contact the office at 800.933.0319 to schedule an appointment.

3. What are your business hours?

Our regularly scheduled business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, EST.

4. Are there a maximum number of items allowed to bring in?

Yes. The collection limit is 10 per individual. Any amount over the limit may incur costs.

5. What happens to my electronics after I drop them off?

When your electronics are in our facilities they are sorted to determine the proper processing protocols. Equipment is tested by our technicians to determine whether or not it holds any remarketing value. If not, all of your electronics will be de-manufactured and recycled using the latest and most efficient recycling technology available. Hazardous components are handled under strict environmental guidelines and procedures to ensure environmental responsibility.

6. How do I know that my sensitive data will be secure?

Our Columbia, SC facility maintains and implements high security measures to ensure that all electronics are securely recycled. With 24/7 CCTV surveillance, 24/7 security guards, card control entry, NIST and DOD compliant hard drive wiping, we can assure your sensitive electronic data will be non-retrievable. If requested customers can schedule an appointment to witness the destruction of their equipment as it is going through our shredding system. Learn more about why you should be concerned by visiting our data security page.

7. What payment options are available for my recycling services?

We accept most major credit cards, cash and/or check. Accepted credit cards are Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

8. How much of my electronics are recycled versus being reused?

It varies. All equipment is first tested by our technicians to determine whether or not it holds any remarketing value. If not, all of your electronics will be de-manufactured and recycled using the most innovative recycling technology. If there’s remarketing value, our remarketing department will ensure we maximize the return on your assets.
