Our 200,000 sq.ft. facility hosts a free e-waste recycling event on the first Friday of each month. This event is for the local area residents of Sacramento, CA and is paid for partly by the state's SB50 program.
1. What services do you offer?
Electronics recycling, asset management, data security, integrated circuits recovery, precious metals refining, and other value added services. Sims Recycling Solutions is your one stop shop to electronics recycling. Visit our services page to learn more.
2. Why should I care about recycling my e-waste?
Obsolete electronics are the fastest growing component of the global waste stream. End-of-life electronics can contain lead, mercury, chromium, nickel and zinc. Cell phones often contain lead, nickel and cadmium and the EPA estimates that there are more than 500 million used cell phones ready for disposal.
Make sure you choose your recycler carefully because the state program only covers certain materials and the rest could be exported to Asia and Africa where it is frequently mishandled causing pollution and adverse health impacts. Visit our environmental disasters page to learn more.
3. What Items Are Accepted?
Electronics we can accept: Computers, Televisions (TVs), Laptops, Cell Phones, Printers, Monitors, Speakers, Keyboards, Mice, PDAs, Radios, Stereos, MP3s, DVDs, CD Players, and VCRs, etc.
Electronics we cannot accept: No Household Appliances, Microwaves, Batteries, Toner/ Ink Cartridges, and Cans/Bottles.
4. What is the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003: Covered Electronic Payment System (SB 20/SB 50)?
The Covered Electronic Payment System (SB 20/SB 50) is a funding system for the collection and recycling of certain electronic wastes.
Please visit the CalRecycle Website to learn more.
5. During what hours can items be dropped off at the Sacramento facility during the week?
Monday through Friday items can be dropped off at the facility during the hours of 7:00am-7:00pm. There is a large box in the front lobby where items can be collected when brought in. Security guards are on site at all times to assist with any questions or heavy lifting that might be needed.

6. Is there maximum number of items accepted for no charge?
As a service to local Sacramento residents only, Sims Recycling Solutions can accept 10 items per individual. Any amount over the limit may incur a cost.
7. Do you provide pick up services for consumers?
No. Sims Recycling Solutions can only provide electronics recycling pick up services for businesses and organizations.
8. How do I know that my personal and confidential data on my hard drives is secure?
Over 9 million U.S. residents were victims of identity theft in 2007 and if residents are carelessly disposing of their hard drives, this number only rise. It’s not just PCs and servers that hold sensitive data, printers, copiers, scanners and cell phones are all recording your information as well.
To ensure your data is secure, your equipment will either go through data erasure up to government standards or will be physically shredded down to dime size pieces through our in-house machinery. This process and electronics recycling machinery is located right here in Sacramento, CA in our 200,000 sq.ft. electronics recycling facility.
9. When is your next schedule event?
The first Friday of every month Sims Recycling Solutions in Sacramento holds a free drive-through/drop off event for local area residents. The event runs from 3:00pm-7:00pm rain or shine only excluding holidays. Once you have the electronic waste in your car, all you have to do is drive through and we will unload for you!
