Sims Recycling Solutions Introduces Changes to Consumer Recycling Program in Illinois

Sims Recycling Solutions will continue to hold Eco-Day events periodically which will allow consumers to drop off electronics at one or more Sims Recycling Solutions sites. The next Illinois Eco-Day event is scheduled for April 24th, 2010 from 8AM to 3PM at 1750 Harvester Road, West Chicago IL, 60185.

In an effort to manage waste materials that can pose environmental and health risks, the State of Illinois recently passed IL Public Act 095-0959 (Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act).

The law establishes a statewide system for recycling and/or reusing electronics discarded from residences by requiring electronic manufacturers and retailers to participate in the management of discarded and unwanted electronic products.

Its ultimate goal is to significantly increase the number of electronics that are properly recycled, refurbished and/or reused; ultimately to be returned to the economic mainstream in the form of raw materials or products.
