Compliance

Sims Recycling Solutions will develop client collection and public education plans that meet the unique obligations and environmental compliance requirements for each State take back law. We will follow through with regulatory authorities to modify or clarify client plan, if necessary, to ensure State approval.

Sims Recycling Solutions will be responsible for meeting the client obligation of each State law through the implementation of the approved plan. The specific operational details most often required by States include:

Sims Recycling Solutions will meet client State‐mandated requirements for Education and Outreach by working with collection partners, NGOs, and other partners to publicize the importance of the role of the consumer, the existence and breadth of the collection network, and special collection or educational events which may be taking place.

We can create customized, client‐specific websites tailored to meet a manufacturer's needs. Websites will have the look and feel of the client's website, but be updated and maintained by us.  Targeted, opt‐in email newsletters for client customers are available.

We will utilize the existing network of Sims Recycling Solutions and Sims Metals Management sites, partner NGOs, municipalities, and other parties to provide the necessary collection infrastructure to ensure low cost collection, accessibility, and convenience to the customer. When required, we will seek out additional collection partners. We will adjust the collection network so that it meets the obligation placed on the client.

Collection site selection, permitting (where required), management, and legal or contractual arrangements will be the responsibility of Sims. We are also capable of providing and managing mail and web‐based collection interfaces with supporting logistics and packaging. Sims Recycling Solutions is able to provide dedicated take back events designed to tie into specific marketing campaigns and corporate functions.

With multiple Sims-owned facilities operating across the US and Canada and future facilities scheduled, Sims Recycling Solutions offers a strong transport and consolidation infrastructure.  All collected equipment will be shipped with cost management in mind via local or 3rd party logistics partners from the collection/consolidation point to our nearest site for processing.

Sims Recycling Solutions has a zero electronics landfill policy. We maintain high capacity shredders and advanced separation equipment which render covered electronic equipment into new materials while ensuring data security and brand protection. All our facilities operate in accordance with local, state, and national regulations.  We maintain high environmental management standards and a commitment to workplace safety which we also require of all downstream vendors.

Recycling services include, but are not be limited to:

• Inventory and receipt of product
• Input of data into Sims Recycling Solutions' online tracking system
• Removal and shipment of hazardous components (capacitors, batteries, etc.) to approved downstream vendors
• De‐manufacture of products into base components (plastics, glass, metal, circuit boards, etc.)
• Process of individual component streams

Sims Recycling Solutions will track all client waste streams and ensure that they are processed to final disposition either at Sims' facilities or by our downstream vendors. All clients have the right to audit Sims' facilities and review our downstream vendor records.

Sims Recycling Solutions will submit any annual reports required by State take back laws concerning the operation of the plan and/or the recycling volume received.  Reports on volume, brand, and source identification can also be provided.  Custom reports are available as needed.  All records will be kept for a minimum of three years.
